Sagrera

The sagrera is the name that, in Catalunya, received the space that surrounded the churches and that had the consideration of sacred territory, protected from feudal violence.

Verdager

Jacint Segimon Ramon Verdaguer was the second son of the eight born of the marriage, his father was a master builder and his mother worked at home as a spinner. While studying ecclesiastical studies, he lived in a country house near the city, where he taught the children and helped with agricultural tasks.

Jaume I

Jaume I of Aragon the Conqueror was born in 2 February 1208 at  Montpellier and he death in 27 July 1276 at Alcira. He was King of Aragon since the year 1213 to 1276, King of Valencia since the year 1238 to 1276 and King of Mallorca since the year 1229 to 1276, count of Barcelona since the year 1213 to 1276, count of Urgel, lord of Montpellier since the year 1219 to 1276 and of other fiefs in Occitania.

Santa Eulàlia

Santa Eulàlia of Barcelona will be, according to tradition, a Christian noia that will die but will not refute the seva faith during the persecutions of Dioclecià, and that will be martyred and worshiped as a martyr for different Christian confessions. But, which is about a legendary figure and, in realitat, inexistent, the legend of which is going to unfold from the unfolding and confused with the history of santa Eulàlia de Mèrida.

She is the patron saint of the Ciutat de Barcelona. You must be consider that the patron saint of the city is the Mare de Deu de la Mercè from 25 September 1687 by accord of the Consell de Cent.

Palau Reial 

It was created in 1919. During 1919-1931 he was the residence of the Royal Spanish Family in his visits to the city. Between 1932 and 2013 the Palace hosted the Museum of Ceramics and the Museum of Decorative Arts until they moved to the HUB building in Plaça de les Glòries in Barcelona. Since 2010 it has been the permanent headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).

Torres i Bages

Josep Torras i Bages was born in 12 September 1846 and he death at 7 February 1916. In addition to apostolic activity, he also devoted himself to literary work. His pastoral documents are models of doctrine and literature. The thought of Torras and Bages is aligned in the right wing of the political and intellectual movements of the Catalunya of its time.

Alfons X

Alfons X was born in 23 November 1221 in Toledo and he death in 4 April 1284 in Sevilla. He was the king of León kingdom, Castilla kingdom and others kingdoms between 1252 and 1284. The last years of his reign were especially bleak, due to the succession conflict caused by the premature death of his eldest son, Fernando de la Cerda, and the minority of his children, which led to the open rebellion of the infant Sancho and much of the nobility and the cities of the kingdom. Alfonso died in Seville during the course of this revolt, but not before disinheriting his son Sancho.

Maragall

Pasqual Maragall Mira was born in 13 January 1941. It’s a Spanish politician, mayor of Barcelona between 1982 and 1997 and president of the Generalitat of Catalonia between 2003 and 2006 as member of the Party of the Socialists of Catalunya.
